Overgrip Tutorial
Now that you have your VYCE overgrip, wrapping it the right way makes a real difference. A proper wrap improves paddle connection, allowing for a more relaxed grip, better feel, and more control during play.
How to Wrap Your VYCE Overgrip
-
Remove the plastic backing
Peel off the plastic strips along the length of the grip. Then remove the small tab covering the adhesive at the tapered end. -
Start at the butt cap
Place the tapered end at the base of the handle. -
Let the taper guide the wrap
The angled cut naturally sets your spiral. Follow that taper as you begin wrapping up the handle. -
Keep consistent tension
Pull the grip firm and steady so it lays clean without bunching or overstretching. -
Overlap evenly
Each pass should slightly overlap the previous layer. A 1/8" to 1/4" overlap is most common, but personal preference matters. -
Wrap in one continuous motion
Work your way up the handle, keeping spacing and tension consistent. -
Finish clean at the top
Trim any excess if needed so the grip ends neatly at the top. -
Secure with finishing tape
Wrap the tape firmly to lock everything in place.
PRO TIPS
-
Adjust where you start based on your grip style
If you tend to hold your paddle lower, starting lower and covering part or all of the plastic butt cap can improve comfort and reduce slippage in your palm. -
Choose your base setup
You have a few options before applying your overgrip:- Remove the stock grip for the thinnest, most connected feel
- Wrap over the factory grip for added tack and comfort
- Install over an aftermarket undergrip like Ethos or Hesacore to combine structure with the feel and connection of a VYCE overgrip
A fresh overgrip makes a bigger difference than most players realize. Replace regularly to keep your feel and control consistent.
